Dear Parents and Carers,
Wollongbar PS will remain non-operational tomorrow. There will be no staff on site.
I am currently unable to contact several of our staff due to cuts in power, phone and internet in the Ballina area and am uncertain of their safety and circumstance. And of course our Lismore based staff either can't safely get here or have no childcare available now that the childcare centres have been flooded.
Thank you so much to everyone who has dropped off clothing etc , including uniforms, at Leigh Creighton's house. We do have families who will require support. Please continue to email us if you require support.
I'm not sure if Ballina has reached flood peak yet, and it is unlikely that Ballina Buslines will be running tomorrow.
I will make contact again tomorrow afternoon for Friday's operational setting. At best, it will be minimal supervision, however I am mindful that this crisis is bigger than all of us and that our local community's safety and wellbeing are everyone's overriding concerns.
I think that we could not have picked a better year to become a Smiling Minds school. We will share more about that with you when things start to 'normalise' and everyone is back at school.
