COVID Smart Measures

Dear Parents and Carers,

Welcome back. We hope you have been healthy and had a good break from school life.

It would be fair to say that winter is presenting us with some challenges, so I thought it was a good time to remind everyone of the COVID-smart measures that are in place to ensure every student has as much face-to-face learning as possible, and preferably with their own teacher, while at the same time supporting student and staff wellbeing. With the challenging winter season that we are experiencing, all staff and students are strongly encouraged to wear masks while indoors.

We would appreciate if any parents and carers who come onsite also wear a mask when indoors. Parents and carers are welcome onsite for specific agreed upon purposes, for example special and Friday assemblies, Parent, Carer and Teacher Interviews, Term 4 Barbeque, School Concerts and Presentation Day etc.

Attendance at special events requires visitors to sign in via the school’s QR Code and any visitors onsite should always follow the instructions or requests of school staff. Visitors to our site who repeatedly ignore the instructions or requests of staff may have their permission to be on site limited under the NSW Inclosed Lands Act.

Our Athletics Carnival (which is postponed until next Thursday and Friday) is a great example of parents and carers being most welcome to come along and cheer on the students whilst staying in the designated areas provided.

Please continue to drop off and collect your children from the school gates and use our school’s Approaching Your School procedure if you would like to talk with a teacher. Having trouble dropping your child off at the gate in the morning? No problem, bring your child to the Office and we are really happy to help you from there.

A reminder that some things have not changed:

• It is never okay to bypass the Office and go and interrupt learning time in the classrooms or teacher preparation time.

• Parents, carers and students are not to use the staff carpark. It is not safe to collect children or walk students through the carpark.

• Please cooperate with the teachers doing Crossing Duty or Bus Duty. Every moment they spend trying to redirect adults into safe cooperative behaviour is a moment they are distracted from caring for the safety of our students.

• We have a designated safe crossing area. If it is too far for you to walk in the afternoon, please choose a safer option than walking out in front of or between the afternoon buses. If you cause a tragedy we don’t want it to be witnessed by the hundreds of students, staff, and parents and carers who are in the area at that time.

In other news…

The Department of Education currently discourages the planning of School Excursions. Spring is on the way though and we are making some plans for K-2 and 3-4 excursions either later in the term or early Term 4. And barring a COVID outbreak, the Stage 3 Camp will go ahead at the end of this term.

You, and extended family, are invited to attend our Book Character Parade and STEM Expo on Friday 12 August. More information to come! And please make sure that you have Tuesday 18 October reserved on your calendar for another whole school afternoon barbeque.
